BOE

The Hawthorne Board of Education is comprised of nine (9) members.  These trustees are elected to a three year term by the citizens of Hawthorne.  The Hawthorne School Board develops and implements policies regarding the education of the children of The Hawthorne Public Schools with input from the Superintendent of Schools and the Board Secretary.

All Board of Education members are responsible for functioning in an ethical manner and, therefore, are governed by laws enacted by the State Legislature and the Ethics Commission. The individual board members possess the authority to function as a board member only during scheduled board meetings.  Generally, the Board of Education meets on the third Tuesday, once a month. The meeting schedule, meeting minutes, and links to the live stream can be found under the Agenda and Minutes tab.
